P.S: We are going to share more anyway.
The 5 early signs of ageing
If you ever enlist during a war, your troop leader will tell you: to fight the enemy – and win the war, you’ve got to know the enemy. On that note, the first step to fight ageing is to identify the early signs and what causes them. Take a look at them below.
- Sunspots or sun damage
Remember the times during the first 15-20 years of your life when you were all pumped up about stepping out, feast on the Vitamin D from sun rays, playing outdoors with your little buddies, enjoying your little adventures before growing up without being sun smart? Well, that’s the past we are referring to when we say ‘the past bites’.
By the time you turn 20, the mistakes of the past i.e. stepping out without being sun smart, and exposing yourself to the harmful (UV) rays, start catching up. As a result, your skin develops sun spots – UV-damaged skin cells that begin to reach the surface layer of your skin.
Blend a little retinol or vitamin A in your skincare regime or use skincare products with the said ingredient. Vitamin A helps the skin reverse the effects of sun damage and diminishes the appearance of sunspots.
Also, start using a sunscreen lotion or cream with a broad spectrum – to protect your skin from UVA and UVB ultraviolet rays.
- Tiny fine lines
Fine lines are a real buzz killer. They appear almost suddenly. Although using a moisturizer from the very beginning can help prolong the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, they are going to appear sooner or later. It’s like the bottle of mineral water at fancy restaurants that you never want but you can’t avoid.
Fine lines are a result of dry skin. So, regular moisturization is the first thing we suggest. However, if that’s failing, try changing your makeup. The use of wrong skincare products only emphasizes it.
- Crow’s feet
Before we start, it’s not something related to your feet but your face skin, specifically the area around your eyes.
Crow’s feet are mostly the first signs of ageing amongst 20-something people. And the best way to prevent them is to keep in three things handy: a good pair of sunglasses, sunscreen to prevent damage in the first place, and a good skin rejuvenating product to rejuvenate the wrinkled skin.
- Dullness
Skin dullness is a result of low cell-turnover rate, resulting in us losing our natural skin glow. To beat it and guarantee more years with your natural skin glow, you must find a way to keep the cell turnover rate in its former glory. One way to go about it is to exfoliate regularly (at least twice or thrice a week) to eliminate dry, flaky, dull skin.
- Dryness
Last but the most important sign of ageing is dry skin because it not only indicates damaged skin but also exacerbates other skin problems. But this one has the simplest cure – make moisturizers your best friends. If it helps, treat it like the most important person in your life.
Keep your skin hydrated at all times, especially if you live in a fairly polluted area, have a stressful job and a sedentary lifestyle.
Apart from that, do the other things which help you and your skin stay healthy i.e. eat well, sleep for 8 hours (minimum) and exercise daily.
